Aims
The aims of this module are:
- To introduce modern network systems.
- To identify and investigate management issues for network systems.
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module, the student should:
- Be aware of the different types of network systems that are common today.
- Be familiar with management issues at each layer of the network stack.
- Be able to apply their understanding of systems to concrete scenarios.
- Understand technical management of network systems, with respect: to infrastructure planning, quality of service and security.
- Understand social management of network systems with respect to: privacy, intellectual property and social media.
Syllabus
- Modern network systems.
- The architecture and structure of modern internet systems.
- Network system measurement.
- Network system management: network infrastructure planning; managing deployment of network resources.
