Aims
The aims of this module are:
- To introduce fundamental mathematical and logical concepts in Computer Science.
- To introduce fundamental systems concepts, tools, and techniques.
- To enable consideration of professional and ethical issues within the discipline.
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module, the student should be more able to:
- understand mathematical concepts and principles that serve as a foundation for a range of computer science topics
- be familiar with the basic theory of algorithms
- have working knowledge of the principles of file systems, processes, and networks
- be aware of ethical, sustainability, and accessibility concerns as they pertain to the computer science discipline.
